Emily Peaker, a 4th year Human Resource Management student from Burlington, Ontario was a spark off the bench for the Guelph Gryphons Women’s Basketball Team on Saturday in their 75-69 win over the Western Mustangs. The 5’9” guard had a monster game grabbing a team-high 16 rebounds and scoring 10 points including a three pointer in the third quarter to give the Gryphons their first lead of the game. The win improved the Gryphons record to 8-3 and current win streak to five straight games.
Borko Popic, a 3rd year English student made his Gryphon debut in grand fashion on Saturday afternoon at the W.F. Mitchell Centre. The 6.5” guard is an NCAA transfer student from Virginia Military Institute. Popic played in his first-ever OUA league game on Saturday, helping the Gryphons defeat the Western Mustangs 56-49. He hit six of his seven shots, grabbed eight rebounds and recorded two block shots and one steal. The win moves the Gryphons to 5-4 on the season.
