    Digging into some serious quiche

Written by Abigel Lemak

Dig In Downtown is a culinary event that takes place in the month of October on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s at select venues downtown Guelph. The event allows for independent restaurants to showcase fresh and local ingredients on a set lunch and dinner menu, promoting in season and local eating downtown.

I decided to see what Ox had in store this week and was met with a wonderfully rich roasted cauliflower and leek soup followed by a bacon and spinach quiche with a zucchini gratin garnished with bean sprouts. I have to mention that their quiche was not only perfectly executed aesthetically, but was the best tasting quiche I’ve ever had-- seriously well done guys. Events like Dig In Downtown give people the chance to explore the many exceptional restaurants in our downtown core and get a sense of the tasty accessibility of locally produced foods.
