College of Biological Sciences
My name is Carisa Mar and I am a 4th year Biomedical Science student. I would like to represent the College of Biological Science (CBS) on the Central Student Association Board of Directors. I am interested in this position because as a science student I have felt a lack of representation on the board in the past. Speaking with other CBS students, it seems apparent that many are unaware of the governing decisions that directly affect them and what their representative on the CSA is supposed to do for them Through my involvement on the collectives of The Guelph Resource Centre for Gender Empowerment and Diversity, The Queer Media Club, and The Women of Colour Collective, I have gained experiences in working with diverse groups of people and making informed decisions that affect these organizations as a whole. As students, we need representation that is responsible, dependable, and approachable. I hope to make the CSA's decisions more transparent and accessible to students, and I hope to become a voice, not only for the CBS students, but for the entire student body through this type of representation.
