Responding to Rae

"The Rae review is a step in the right direction. For students, however, we need more than just words - we need action” stated Ryan White, the CSA’s external commissioner, “we know that Ontario's students are facing significant challenges and we need to see appropriate measures - tuition reductions, affordable housing, needs-based grants - taken to address these issues and ensure that all qualified students, regardless of their ethnicity, race or income, can attend the post secondary institution of their choice."
Although the University of Guelph has already released its recommendations for the Review, the CSA is specifically targeting hot-button student issues with its own report, entitled Out of Reach: Postsecondary Education in Ontario.
“We felt it was crucial for the student union to express the views of its members,” said Jenn Watt, CSA academic commissioner. “We have surveyed students at this institution for their opinions, and we have taken a purposefully student-centred approach to our paper.”
The CSA will submit the paper on Friday, December 10th to the Review. It will also be available on the CSA website.
The CSA provides services, support and advocacy for the more than 16,000 undergraduate students that attend the University of Guelph.
