SafeWalk is a volunteer based program that provides escorts to travel with you across campus. The service is available to students, faculty and staff between the hours of 7:30pm and 2:30am, all week long. SafeWalk is an essential service for the UofG campus because it allows students to attend evening classes or other events that take place at night without having to worry about safety.
There are also some little known perks available to those that get involved. Its a good resume builder and gives participants valuable volunteer experience. SafeWalk also provides volunteers with reference letters for those that are in the program for a year or more. For students that are interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement or criminal justice studies, SafeWalk looks extra cool on your CV. Members also receive subsidized training opportunities, such as self defense classes. Also, free (non-alcoholic) drinks during your shift and monthly social events such as rock climbing and Guelph Storm hockey! All this adds up to a very satisfied group of volunteers, who come back semester after semester.
So if you're interested, and are available for approximately two 3.5 hour shifts a week, SIGN UP TODAY! If you have further questions you can contact or you can call ext. 54845.
To get involved you can click HERE Fill out the application and drop if off in the CSA main office, second floor UC. There will be a short interview and applicants will then receive a training session.
