Brae-Anne McArthur

Brae-Anne McArthur, a 4th year Psychology from Sarnia, Ontario, was tough as nails in the CIS pentathlon last Thursday. Entering the meet ranked 4th, she fought through a back injury from earlier in the week, to capture silver and gain her first All-Canadian award. Sitting in 8th spot after the opening event, the 60m hurdles, Brae dug in and unloaded a huge high jump of 1.72 to move up with the front of the pack. After holding steady through the shot put and long jump, she ran a fantastic and tactical 800m in a time of 2:27 to finish off the pent and move from 3rd to 2nd.

Owen Willems

Owen Willems, a 3rd year Microbiology student from London, Ontario, has had a huge season and finished it off in style this past weekend by becoming the first OUA athlete (it is a new event here) to visit the podium in the 35lb weight throw at the CIS Championships in Saskatoon. Owen has been steady all season and kept his best throw for the right moment, dropping a fine series of tosses including a personal best throw of 17.77m.
