Gryphon Athlete of the Week - January 30 - February 5, 2006

Sharon Hollinshead, a 3rd year Human Kinetics student from Welland, Ontario, has been coming into her own after missing 6 league games due to injury. This past week, she had two outstanding performances just missing hitting 2 double-double digit games. Wednesday, she led the Gryphons to a 55-54 victory over #10 Brock accumulating 17 points, 9 rebounds. Against Laurier on Saturday, the 5’10” guard recorded 16 points, 9 rebounds in an 81-67 win. Sharon went 11/25 from the field and 10/12 from the charity stripe.

Jeremy Slater

Gryphon Athlete of the Week - January 30 - February 5, 2006

Jeremy Slater, a 5th year English student from Kingston, Ontario, blazed to an 8.32 second 60m Hurdle to shatter the old Gryphon record of 8.50 set by Brian Jamieson and moved into the #2 spot in the national rankings. Jeremy also rocked a 7.17 personal best in the flat 60m and ran an outstanding leg in the 4x200m relay, which posted a 1:30.32, good for #2 on the Gryphon All-time list and earned the Gryphons a trip to the CIS Championships.
