Take Back the Night March and Rally
Thursday, September 17, 2009
What: Take Back the Night
Where: Marianne's Park, Gordon Street, Guelph
When: Thursday, September 17, 6pm.
Why: Take Back the Night Marches and Rallies happen every year internationally to raise awareness about violence against women. Women began marching in 1976 in Belgium to raise awareness about sexualized violence. Since then, TBTN has been part of a grassroots feminist movement to bring attention to violence against women. In Guelph this march has been happening for over 20 years.
This year the march will be from Marianne's Park and ending in a community rally (with performances, speakers, community booths and food) at St. George's Square.
