DAY OF ACTION
Thursday, November 5, 2009
~ Did you know undergraduate tuition fees have increased 195% since 1990 and students in Ontario pay the HIGHEST tuition fees in the country? Did you know we pay the highest graduate tuition fees as well?
~ Did you also know that we rank LAST in per-student funding?
~ An average student graduates with a debt of $30,000 over 4 years
~ The good news is that this is the FINAL year of the McGuinty government's "Reaching Higher" framework for tuition free increases.
~ As members of the Canadian Federation of Students YOU can change this. Students won a national system of grants in 2007 and we can do it again !
Come out on THURSDAY NOVEMBER 5, along with thousands of other students, workers and community members across the province to voice your concerns and demand that our government put more funding into post-secondary education and make it affordable and accessible for all !
SEE YOU THERE !
P.S. The University continues to be supportive of students and the Provost and the President of the Faculty Association have sent a joint statement to all faculty and instructors at U of Guelph, requesting that students are not penalized for missing classes or labs on this day if they wish to participate in this event.
P.P.S If you would like to speak at the event about how high tuition fees have affected you or someone you know personally, please email your CSA External Commissioner at [email protected]
