    “Social Media: Mobilizing for #good or #evil” is a panel discussion event, which will focus on the role of social media has played in mobilizing political protests, social justice movements, and wide-scale civil unrest. For example, social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter and YouTube) have been credited with facilitating the “Arab Spring” political movements, civil unrest during the recent G20 summit in Toronto, and most recently mass rioting in London. Panellists include Professor Mark Lipton, Robert Routledge and a representative from the Guelph Debate Society. The moderator will be Dr. Tamara Small. The panel discussion will build upon an on-line discussion forum, available through CourseLink (contact [email protected] to be added to the discussion).
