What
The 3rd Saturday of every month brings out eclectic story sharing via the Guelph Poetry Slam, this means the March edition is almost at hand and you can’t afford to miss it!
This month’s GPS features Chi-town’s own poignant and perverse J.W. Baz; whose raucous performances and uncanny charisma will leave your heart wrenched and your stomach stitched. Oh the joy! Hosted by Matthew Dryden.
If you have aspirations to represent Guelph at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word this year in Ottawa or score a sweet $100 prize bring 2 original poems that are 3mins or less to Slam; If you got it in you to sing, rap, do a cover/magic, beatbox or make sweet blues on your harmonica, etc. there’s a 3-5mins spot for you to crash the OPEN MIC! And don’t worry if all you have to offer is an opinion feel right at home, because judges will be needed!
J.W. is the Poet Laureate of Apartment 2E with a reputation as one of the most sought-after and compelling spoken word artists working today. He is a National Slam finalist whose work has appeared on NPR, in the Chicago Tribune, and in hundreds of venues across North America. All things considered, he’s doing pretty well for a guy who failed Creative Writing in high school.
