Now recruiting Student Support Network volunteers
February 4 - March 1
The Student Support Network is a welcoming, supportive, and safe place for students at the University of Guelph. It is provided through the voluntary efforts of people committed to fostering a comfortable Drop-In Centre, offering new learning experiences and services related to personal development and growth, and assisting people in times of distress.
The mainstay of the Student Support Network is the provision of a confidential safe space for members of the university community. The Campus Drop-In, located in Raithy House, is open 12-10 pm, Monday-Friday while classes are in session and 12-8 pm during scheduled exam weeks. The SSN also operates an after-hours phone line at the same time as the drop-in (x.55002)
All volunteers are extensively trained in active listening skills and topics relating to student mental health. A two-semester (Fall & Winter) time commitment is required with an average of 7 hours of volunteer work per week. All volunteers must be able to attend two full days of Core Training on September 3 & 4, 2013 and one 4-hour training per month thereafter.

Application forms can be downloaded (Word format) below or picked up at Raithby House. Completed applications can be e-mailed to [email protected] or dropped off to Raithby House.
Completed applications will be accepted until March 1, 2013. Interviews are offered as applications are received, so we encourage applicants to hand them in as soon as possible.
This is a great opportunity to meet new people and support the campus community. The quality training provided develops skills that are applicable to many professional career environments including counselling, teaching, medicine and social work.
