Halifax based singer songwriter Jenn Grant takes her band on the road in support of her latest release Honeymoon Punch. Still hot off the press, the album was just nominated for 3 East Coast Music Awards .....
Fan’s Choice Entertainer of the Year, Fan’s Choice Video of the Year (You’ll Go Far) & SOCAN Songwriter of the Year with Buck 65… Yay!
Jenn Grant arrived on the scene in full technicolour with her debut Orchestra for the Moon (2007). The album, recorded at CBC Halifax, fused Jenn’s intuitive songcraft with a core of talented musicians who shaped and informed the creative instincts of this emerging talent.
Orchestra for the Moon earned immediate attention, a deal with Six Shooter Records and a place atop the East Coast scene, famous for its fictional dreamers and its real world songbirds. Early tours with The Weakerthans and Hayden introduced the rest of Canada to this 2006 East Coast Music Award winner for Best New Artist, a fine arts graduate with a voice like brushstrokes on a canvas.
Jenn brought her band and producer/composer Jonathan Goldsmith (Bruce Cockburn) to Puck’s Farm in Southern Ontario to make the follow up, Echoes (2009). The album was a retreat from the city, a departure from modern record-making conveniences, and a recoiling from recent heartaches and breaks. Jenn pressed her wounds to analogue tape, and Echoes is a haunting and melancholic artifact of process and mood. The album topped the CBC Radio 3 chart (March, 2009) and found places on year-end Earshot and ChartATTACK lists as well. In 2009, Jenn performed with Symphony Nova Scotia, headlined the Cultural Olympiad Canadian Tour and showcased during Grammy Week, ECMA, CMW, SXSW and NXNE.
Songs from both records have been heard on Grey’s Anatomy, Mercy, Shattered and Heartland. Jenn has performed across Canada, the US and Europe, with Hawksley Workman, Martin Tielli, Barenaked Ladies and others. Her albums have received East Coast Music Award and Music Nova Scotia award nominations.
