What
Dr. Kirk Durston and Dr. Christopher DiCarlo will debate whether or not we need God for morality to exist.
For centuries, philosophers and theologians have wrestled with this question, and now we will finally have a definitive answer. The issue is to be settled by vote, so come on out and help us solve this age-old problem. Regardless of what side you are on, we hope to see you there.
This event is a joint venture by Campus for Christ and the Atheos club at the University of Guelph.
In 2008, Dr. diCarlo won Ontario's Best Lecturer and was named Canada's Humanist of the year. Dr. Chris diCarlo holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Waterloo and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard. He is an advisory fellow at the Centre for Inquiry and specializes in ethics and the philosophy of science.
Dr. Durston is National Director of the New Scholars Society. He holds an M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Manitoba and a Ph.D. in Biophysics from the University of Guelph. The focus of his research is in the use of functional information encoded in protein sequences. He has published several papers in both peer-reviewed science and philosophy journals. -
