Basia Bulat caught the eye of international fans with her debut release Oh, My Darling (2007) which was released by the esteemed UK label Rough Trade before it was released in Canada or the US. Following the North American release Basia started touring and stayed on the road for a couple of years with freequent performances in Europe and other parts of the world. Her latest release Heart of My Own takes her on the road again with a special request for a Guelph stop to play at the wonderful Dublin St Church.
"Using the most straightforward descriptors - jazz-inflected, orchestral folk pop with a dash of northern soul - make [Bulat's music] sound more conventional than I'd like so instead, I'll try this. Basia Bulat sounds like springtime smiling. Her music is rich yet breezy, with a melodic enthusiasm that's nothing short of delightful.”
