Join us for a preview of this years Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival, scheduled for May 31 – June 3 at various venues around Guelph.
This years featured performance group is Montreal based Parts+Labour_Danse. Co-founded by choreographers and co-artistic directors Emily Gualtieri and David Albert-Toth, the company’s work, infused with a distinctly minimalist theatricality that exploits the expressive potential of the fully present body in movement, dives unapologetically into the rich complexities of the human condition. Their research is framed by an underlying interest in abstraction and deconstruction; the physical vocabulary they have developed fuses classical, urban, and contemporary dance idioms, pairing calculated precision with an athletic, rough and ready physicality that marries tenderness and threat.
