  • What

Bring a blanket and grab a spot early for the parade this year. The 2nd Annual Santa Road Race will see runners dressed as Santa run the parade route at 1pm. Organized by the Speed River Track & Field Club with all proceeds going to Big Brothers Big Sisters, registrations for this 3km fun run will be open right up until race day.
Canada Post and the Guelph Food Bank kick off at 1.15pm so bring those letters to Santa and non-perishable items. Led by athletes from the Special Olympics Spring Games squad, the parade proper starts at 1.30pm from Woolwich Street at Powell Street, ending on Wyndham Street at Carden Street. See the parade route map here.
Grab a hot chocolate from one of many downtown vendors and settle down to see all sorts of entertainment from brass bands, high schools, dance groups…there’ll even be some tai chi to calm us all down from the excitement.
For a second year, the Children’s Art Factory are building a beautiful and original float for Santa. Based on the craft of the paper chain, traditionally made by children, the simple repetitive design, made of wood, will be hand cut and feature a street scene set a glow on Christmas night.
New for this year, attendees are invited to have milk and cookies with Santa after the parade in Old Quebec Street Shoppes. Warm up with hot apple cider and enjoy the Victorian-themed Christmas event until 5pm.
Parade organizers, the Downtown Guelph Business Association, together with over 100 volunteers, will get floats in line on the day, keep the crowds safe, or don costumes and entertain the thousands of spectators. Join us Sunday November 20th for entertainment, spectacle and seasonal fun !
